In sorting through all of the newsletters, blog posts, advertisements and what not in my inbox this morning I came across this fantastic, stylish and inexpensive birch wine bottle holder from CB2. Continue reading
How to Choose a Good Wine
Wine can be an excellent accompaniment to a delicious meal, so it’s good to experiment until you find the suiting taste. In order to help you, I’ve devoted this blog to some advice about wine choosing. Continue reading
I promised to share my Mom’s apple pie recipe and just in time for Thanksgiving…I deliver! Now this is not your standard apple pie, it is more of an apple custard. It is the most amazing pie I have ever had – so amazing my grandmother used to request only an apple pie as her birthday present every year. Continue reading
It sounds funny, I know. But bacon actually offers quite a diverse set of pairings. Bacon can definitely vary in taste, depending on how much fat it has, how thinly it is sliced, how long it is cooked, what region it comes from, etc. But when you think of bacon, what comes to mind first? That wonderful smell wafting through the house, just drawing you out of bed? The lovely sizzling sound of those fatty strips cooking in a pan? Most people I would say, first think of the salty breakfast variety of bacon, and I’ll admit that is definitely my first thought as well. But today I am going to attempt to pair some of my favorite Jessup wines with a bacon-based dish!

So in perusing my blog roll I could immediately tell that Halloween had come and gone and now it was time to get serious about the holidays. No more candy and last-minute “slept-in” costumes, now it was time for turkeys, gourds, pies, and everything that comes with gathering your family around a huge table and filling that table with food memories. So in no particular order, here are some random links and thoughts on Thanksgiving as you and I both figure out where the heck the summer went and how it is 15 days until Thanksgiving… Continue reading

Our second hosted Jessup Cellars wine tasting and dinner was just last weekend. The venue was Prizzi’s Restaurant, newly relocated from Franklin Village in Hollywood, CA. Prizzi’s is now over the hill to Burbank, located in the Disney Building; a much larger location. Continue reading
A few weeks ago I drove up to the Finger Lakes region for Ithaca College’s alumni weekend and dedication of their fantastic new Athletic & Events Center. Having lived in Ithaca for four years, I am no stranger to the Cayuga Lake wineries and have had my share of tipsy wine tours
. However, some friends introduced me to a new wine Corks & More and I love the technology SO much that I had to share! Continue reading

FAIL. I didn’t add any new wine bars stops to the list. Restaurant hopping, Pedal-pubbing {if you’re unsure of what a Pedal Pub is… you must click here}, and dive-barring took precedence on the social calendar. But I DID end up visiting my very first Minnesotan winery. It would have made for great blog fare… a weekend daytrip to the quaint + charming town of Stillwater visiting apple farms, pumpkin patches, local wineries… except, I feel it’s my Ambassador duty to write the truth and nothing but the truth :: the vino here was no bueno. Way too sweet, sorta syrupy, and did I mention way too sweet? A total letdown from the super-cute location, energetic tasting room, and overly friendly staff. But I don’t want to badmouth the effort. It just made me realize how amazing Californian wines are and how much I miss the Jessup tasting room. Continue reading

The short answer: “volatile organics.” The real answer, well, is a bit more complicated… Continue reading
