Scott’s First Post
I’m a 28 year old software engineer by day and a wine-o adventure extraordinaire by night. My work keeps me extremely busy, but when I’m not slaving over my keyboard, I’m usually kicking back watching a San Jose Sharks game (playoffs baby!) with a cool, crispy glass of wine in hand. During the off season though, I love to uncover life’s possibilities with my friends – whether it be taking bartending classes, going on random road trips, or simply trying new restaurants; life has too much to offer for me to sit still!
I was born and raised in San Jose, CA and although I love to explore, I don’t have plans to move anytime soon. You know what they say, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” My girlfriend, Janice, and I have been dating for over 2 years now and I am happy to report that we’re finally starting to figure out this relationship thing! :-p I have a calico cat named Zoey, who has yet to experience the awesomeness of Jessup Cellars but don’t fret, I’m sure I’ll get her up there to visit soon.
I guess you could say I’m a “chip off the ol’ block” because my interest in wine comes from my father, whose passion naturally got me interested so he taught me to explore it and appreciate it. I still have a lot to learn, but my friends and I are constantly testing our skills through simple classes, blind taste tests, and food pairings. I use www.cellartracker.com to review and track the wine I purchase (5 cent wine sale!) and drink; and as a result I got the crazy idea to attempt designing and building a custom 228 bottle wine rack for my basement.
